I didn’t know Dear John (film) was this good until I watched it. It was full of emotions we can always relate to.

My Display Picture

This is me as a college student. You could see that I'm not wearing any uniforms because we don't have them in UA&P. What's good with not having uniform is that you can wear anything comfy every single day but without breaking the dress code.

Effects of Technology on Interpersonal Communication

Could you imagine life without technology? No television, no air conditioner, no computer nor cell phone. Hard, right? Truly, technology has already taken up a huge part in our lives. It is practically everywhere. But have we ever wondered how life could be without it? Have we ever asked ourselves how much technology has affected our lives?
It is undeniable that one of the aspects in our lives technology has influenced is social interaction. Technology has improved our means of communication in ways we never thought possible. However, as there are the positive effects of technology, we should also be aware there are the negatives.
The internet is one of the powerful things the human race has invented and, because of it, what’s hard to reach can be in front of you within a matter of seconds. Once the internet is on, our computer screens transport us to where we want to be brought. It can even let us be in a thousand different places and happenings all at the same time. Through e-mail or chat, we can keep in touch with people we don’t literally see every day. We produce blogs to express ourselves or get people’s attention. We can easily apply for jobs online without being nervous about one-on-one interviews. Business meetings can now be conducted through video conferences thus making transactions, arrangements and deals easier.
Longing children can talk to their parents through Skype or IM or even Facebook, though it’s never the same with really having to talk to them personally. Although friendship can be built, cyber-bullying can be so easy within just a few taps of the keyboard. One can make someone’s day complete by typing a simple “Hello.” while another can bring someone down by a goodbye. Some people develop relationships but without having met and known their partner personally, mistrust can easily come in. We can easily share truths about ourselves but we can easily lie and be lied to as well. Those who work at offices can simply message another to be able to communicate without interfering with their jobs. But this doesn’t strengthen the bond within the company.
The use of cellular phones is another innovation that is totally convenient and different. Imagine how long it’ll take one postcard or letter to be delivered and how fast, on the other hand, one text message can be sent. Our phones enable us to keep in touch with people for a very cheap price. No matter how far we are from each other, we can stay connected by giving each other a call. On the other hand, we all know that text messages are usually shortened messages, thus it can be a cause of misunderstanding. Also, calls are expensive and the fact that a lot of people use mobile phones causes electronic signals to weaken.
Technology lets our thoughts and feelings travel in a matter of seconds. Though our online social circles widen, we forget to make time for people we see every day. As we spend too much time on our gadgets, we don’t notice that we’re slowly breaking down the strongest possible connections we can ever have – those with our family. Also, we get too lazy to talk to each other face to face hence creating a hindrance between our personal interactions.
Technology in communication absolutely isn’t a bad thing, but it isn’t entirely good either. To be able to communicate effectively, one must be convincing and able to transfer the message in a way the receiver can fully understand. Yes, technology can lessen our efforts but it can also increase our problem if we aren’t aware of what we are doing and how it affects us. We should always remember that technology could help build relationships but it could also build barriers between ourselves if not used correctly. Though a text message can touch the heart, spoken words can always make a bigger difference.
